Vandalism reports in Laurelton and Parkchester stay far above normal

Today also brought lingering subway notices on the 6 and 1 lines and a water main break that flooded streets near Edenwald.

78 vehicle theft reports near one East New York point this week

The thread followed longest today was in southeast Queens. Three neighbouring parts of Laurelton show 15, 14 and 10 vandalism reports this week, against none to about 0.4 a week over the previous eight weeks. Public order reports are also up in Hollis.

Parkchester in the Bronx shows a similar pattern, with 15 vandalism reports this week against about 1 a week normally, plus 5 public order reports against about 0.5. In East New York, 78 vehicle theft reports were logged within 400 metres of one point this week, 57 of them in weekday daytime.

Transit notices were slow to clear. MTA delay and skipped-stop notices on the 6 near Pelham Bay Park, attributed to a structure fire, were still posted at 8:35 AM, and 1 train notices near 207 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St ran past midnight. CBS New York reported a water main break that left Bronx streets near Edenwald flooded and muddy while crews searched for the source.
