Queens and Bronx vandalism stays high as an F train fire alert goes quiet
East New York vehicle thefts and Lower East Side road hazards stayed clustered, while transit alerts in Queens and Brooklyn went without updates.
15 vandalism reports in Parkchester this week, vs about 1 normally
Today's story is still vandalism in two corners of the city. Three neighbouring parts of Laurelton show 15, 14 and 10 vandalism reports this week, against none to about 0.4 a week normally, and Hollis is up too. In Parkchester, 15 vandalism reports came in this week against about 1 a week normally, with 6 more next door against about 0.4.
Two other clusters held. In East New York, 78 vehicle theft reports were logged within 400 metres of one point this week, 57 of them during weekday daytime. On the Lower East Side, 267 road hazard reports were logged near one point, 263 of them on weekday daytimes.
Transit alerts went quiet. No new alerts have followed the evening structure fire that disrupted F service near Forest Hills-71 Av and Sutphin Blvd, and the N delay alert near Avenue U has gone nearly four hours without an update while gas work at Surf Avenue and Brighton Beach Avenue stays listed. On the Upper East Side, ABC7's report of two firefighters injured at a high-rise balcony fire remains the only account.
MTA alerts also flagged public order activity at Jay St-MetroTech, Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts, Broadway Junction, Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, Hudson Yards and Columbus Circle. That feed is new to Lantern, so there is no normal to compare it against yet.
