A Sunday of subway alerts, ending with an F line fire suspension
Beneath the day's transit notices, week-long vandalism highs in Laurelton and Parkchester remained in place.
267 road hazard reports near one Lower East Side point this week
Today was a day of subway police alerts. They ran from Yankee Stadium early on to Jay St-MetroTech, Broadway Junction, Columbus Circle and an assault alert at Grand St in Chinatown. Public order alerts posted at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy at about 6:24 PM and Hudson Yards at about 6:33 PM were still listed as active more than an hour and a half later. Lantern has no normal yet for MTA alerts, so it can't say whether today was busier than usual.
In the evening, an MTA alert posted at about 7:37 PM listed part of the F line suspended near Forest Hills-71 Av and delays near Sutphin Blvd, both tied to a structure fire. In south Brooklyn, a planned gas work closure at Surf Avenue and Brighton Beach Avenue stayed listed, and an N delay alert near Avenue U went nearly four hours without an update.
Two neighbourhood patterns from this week held. Three neighbouring parts of Laurelton show 15, 14 and 10 vandalism reports, against a recent norm of none to about 0.4 a week. Parkchester shows 15 vandalism reports where about 1 is normal, with 6 next door and 5 public order reports nearby.
Elsewhere, 78 vehicle thefts were logged near one East New York point this week, 57 of them during weekday daytime. On the Lower East Side, 267 road hazard reports were logged within 400 metres of one point, 263 of them on weekday daytimes.
