A week of lane closures on US-101, SR 68 and Big Sur's Highway 1
A coastal flood advisory covered Monterey Bay and Big Sur as CHP logged collision calls from Castroville to Hollister.
40 updates on the US-101 ramp and SR 68 closures
Road work set the tone this week. Caltrans kept listing full US-101 off-ramp closures at Airport Boulevard, East Market Street and Oak Avenue in Greenfield, with alternating lanes along SR 68, a thread followed through 40 updates. The eastbound Highway 68 off-ramp at Toro Park was listed fully closed, with one-way control on Highway 68 in Pacific Grove and Highway 218 in Seaside.
On the coast, Highway 1 in Big Sur stayed under one-way traffic control at Rocky Creek Bridge, Point Sur and Mud Creek across 31 updates. A National Weather Service Coastal Flood Advisory remained in effect for Northern and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast.
CHP collision calls clustered on rural routes. A hit-and-run collision report where SR 25 meets SR 156 near Hollister stayed listed as active through 21 updates. Calls at SR 183 and Blackie Road in Castroville and on San Felipe Road north of Hollister also stayed open.
In the Salinas Valley, PG&E listed ten outages just north of Greenfield totaling about 117 customers. Two NASA satellite heat detections in East Salinas and south of Castroville had no matching fire reports. The Caltrans conditions feed is new, so there is no normal yet to compare this week against.
