The story of Monterey County · October 19 to October 26
Two road closures on 101 and Route 68 close out the week
The week's public record for Monterey County is thin, and both open items are road closures that started on October 26.
2 road closures logged on October 26
This week in Monterey County, the clearest story is on the roads. On October 26, the Highway Patrol logged a road closure on US 101 South at John Street in Salinas. It is still listed as active, with a severity rating of 3.
Earlier the same day, Caltrans posted a closure on State Route 68 East, running toward Toro Park. That one is listed as monitoring, with a severity rating of 2.
Each closure comes from a single source, and the feeds show no comparison to normal for this week. So there is no way to say whether the county ran busier or quieter than usual. Drivers headed through Salinas or along Route 68 may want to check conditions before leaving.
