Monterey County's roads and coast: closures, one-way control, a flood advisory
Caltrans work on US-101 and SR 68 was the longest-running thread, while a Coastal Flood Advisory covered Monterey Bay and Big Sur.
40 updates on US-101 ramp and SR 68 closures
In the last 30 days, the story Lantern followed longest was road work. Caltrans listed full US-101 off-ramp closures at Airport Boulevard, East Market Street and Oak Avenue in Greenfield, plus alternating-lane work along SR 68. That thread drew 40 updates. The eastbound Highway 68 off-ramp at Toro Park was also listed fully closed, with one-way control in Pacific Grove and on Highway 218 in Seaside.
On the coast, Highway 1 through Big Sur kept one-way traffic control at Rocky Creek Bridge, Point Sur and Mud Creek, across 31 updates. A National Weather Service Coastal Flood Advisory covered Northern and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast, followed through 27 updates.
CHP collision reports stayed open on several corridors. A hit-and-run report where SR 25 meets SR 156 near Hollister remained active with no new calls after it. Reports at Highway 1 and Davenport Avenue and on SR 183 at Blackie Road in Castroville were also listed.
In the Salinas Valley, PG&E listed ten outages just north of Greenfield, totaling about 117 customers. Two NASA satellite heat detections in East Salinas and south of Castroville had no matching fire reports.
