Road closures and a coastal flood advisory set the tone for Thursday
Fire activity eased today, while CHP logged a fatal crash on G18 at 8:36 PM before collision reports slowed.
3 points of one-way traffic control on Big Sur's Highway 1
Today was mostly about getting around. Caltrans' 12:04 AM refresh still shows one-way traffic control at three points on Highway 1 along the Big Sur coast: Rocky Creek Bridge, Point Sur and Mud Creek. In Salinas, full closures of the US 101 off-ramps at Airport Boulevard, East Market Street and Oak Avenue were posted at 7:01 PM, with lane closures between Sanborn Road and Sherwood Drive both ways.
On the Peninsula, Highway 68 alternating-lane closures and one-way control at El Toro Creek Bridge are still listed, along with a PG&E planned outage for 103 customers near Blue Larkspur Lane. In Castroville, northbound Highway 183 lanes from Del Monte Avenue to Route 1 remain closed near signals CHP logged as defective at Pajaro Street.
The National Weather Service coastal flood advisory issued at 1:46 PM still covers Northern and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast. On the fire side, things were quiet. No satellite has detected new heat in the Gabilan Range east of Salinas for about 24 hours, and nothing further has come in on the Carmel Valley Village apartment fire.
CHP logged a fatal crash on G18 in south county at 8:36 PM. Collision reports eased after that, with none new since an 11:44 PM no-injury crash at San Juan Grade Road and Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
