An apartment fire in Carmel Valley Village lined up with overnight satellite heat, while the hills east of Salinas stayed quiet.
3 one-way control points on Big Sur's Highway 1
Today was mostly about getting around. Caltrans kept one-way traffic control on Highway 1 at Rocky Creek Bridge, Point Sur and Mud Creek. In Salinas, full off-ramp closures at Airport Boulevard, East Market Street and Oak Avenue went up at 7:01 PM, with lane closures on US 101 between Sanborn Road and Sherwood Drive in both directions.
On the Peninsula, Highway 68 closures from Pacific Grove to the El Toro Creek Bridge stayed listed, and PG&E's planned outage for 103 customers near Blue Larkspur Lane and Bit Road remained posted. In Castroville, northbound Highway 183 lanes were closed near defective traffic signals CHP logged at Pajaro Street at 7:58 PM.
KSBW reported an apartment fire that damaged a building and businesses in Carmel Valley Village, where NASA satellites picked up heat three times early this morning. No new fire reports have come in since. East of Salinas, no satellite has detected new heat in the Gabilan Range since about 1:59 PM Tuesday.
The National Weather Service coastal flood advisory issued at 1:46 PM still covers Northern and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast. This evening, CHP logged a traffic collision in the 72200 block of Crg18 that it marked as a fatality.
