A roadwork day: closures on US-101, SR 68 and Big Sur's Highway 1
A National Weather Service Coastal Flood Advisory still covers Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast, while scattered collisions dotted the county's roads.
40 updates on the US-101 and SR 68 closures thread
Today was mostly about Caltrans work zones. Full off-ramp closures on US-101 in Salinas, East Salinas and Greenfield remain listed, along with alternating-lane work on SR 68 from Pacific Grove to Corral de Tierra. The eastbound Highway 68 off-ramp at Toro Park is still listed fully closed, and new 9 AM work zones opened on Highway 218 in Seaside and on US-101 near San Lucas.
On the coast, Highway 1 in Big Sur still has one-way traffic control at Rocky Creek Bridge, Point Sur and Mud Creek. The Coastal Flood Advisory issued at 8:59 PM continues for Northern and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast.
CHP logged collisions across the region, including SR 183 at Blackie Road in Castroville, Meridian Road in Prunedale, and Highway 1 at Davenport at 12:33 AM. A major-injury collision on San Antonio Road in the far south county is now listed as monitoring, with no further details.
In the Salinas Valley, PG&E still lists ten outages north of Greenfield totaling about 117 customers. Two NASA heat detections from Sunday, in East Salinas and south of Castroville, still have no matching fire reports.
