Road hazards piled up around Downtown while the citywide count held steady

Vandalism reports ran below normal across the city, but jumped in Canoga Park, Highland Park and Chinatown.

54 road hazard reports near Downtown LA this week, against a usual 8

Road hazard reports across Los Angeles came in at 2,844 this week, close to the usual 2,800. The difference was where they landed. Downtown LA logged 54 against a usual 8, and smaller pockets ran far above their norms: 12 near East Hollywood, 11 near Reseda, 10 near Exposition Park and 9 near San Pedro, each where about one a week or fewer is typical.

Vandalism went the other way citywide, with 11,713 reports against a usual 14,837. A few neighbourhoods bucked that: Canoga Park had 21 against about 2, Highland Park 19 against about 1, and Chinatown 12 against about 1. Weather alerts ran at 195, above the usual 108, while public order reports were well below normal at 16 against 82.

Saturday brought a run of roadside vegetation fire calls along the freeways. The Highway Patrol logged them on the westbound 10 at Dudley Street in Pomona, the southbound 101 at Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park, the southbound 405 at Burbank Boulevard in Van Nuys, and at Main and 117th in Watts. In Pasadena, a City of Pasadena helicopter circled from about 3:30 to 3:50 PM while a fire call on the westbound 134 at Fair Oaks stayed active.

Collisions kept parts of the freeway network busy the same afternoon. Calls on the eastbound 210 at Myrtle Avenue in Monrovia and the northbound 710 at Del Amo Boulevard were still listed as active, while nearby calls in Arcadia and at the 105-710 interchange moved to monitoring.
