52 downtown road hazard reports this week, usual 9
Today began with fire reports beside the freeways. After a quiet stretch, CHP logged one on the westbound 10 at Flower Street at 12:26 AM and another on the westbound 105 at Long Beach Boulevard in Watts at 12:37 AM. A third followed on the 710 at Pacific Coast Highway at 2:03 AM.
Overnight closures were slow to clear. Caltrans still listed the southbound 101 closed between Burbank Boulevard and White Oak Avenue in Encino, and the 101 downtown near 1st Street, past 9 AM. The northbound 14 in Lancaster stayed closed from Avenue H to Avenue A, in place since 8:01 PM.
The pattern carried into late morning in Sun Valley. CHP logged a collision at the southbound 5 Laurel Canyon Boulevard off-ramp at 11:13 AM, about a mile from a roadside fire reported at the 5 and Lankershim at 9:11.
Behind the day sits a weekly trend on city streets. Downtown LA has 52 road hazard reports this week against a usual 9, and Reseda has 14 against about 1.
